Balanced Ecosystems, thriving mustangs
The American Mustang is an icon of our heritage.
The Wild Horse and Burro Act of 1971 protects them on their ranges.
Management is controversial.
Wyoming is fortunate to have large numbers of wild mustangs, but it is a big job to keep the numbers manageable and prevent the depletion of their range.
Adding resources through volunteer programs enables the BLM to more effectively manage and improve things for the horses.
