WyWHIP is a group of dedicated volunteers, committed to responsible conservation efforts of the American Mustang,
We work to preserve the heritage of the horses, particularly on Wyoming rangelands.

We educate the public worldwide on the issues American Mustangs face in the west, and especially in Wyoming.
We live and work with mustangs in captivity and on the range, communicating with major stakeholders, and collaborating to find innovative solutions.

WYWHIP partners with other organizations and individuals to help the tens of thousands of American Mustangs who are no longer free on the range.

  • SD cards for photos, data, and organization. We take thousands of photos, and have large databases.
  • External drives for storage of database, data, and photos.
  • Game cameras.
  • Range finders.
  • Binoculars/spotting scopes/other equipment for locating horses. Including night vision for eventual darting purposes and to track movement.
  • Laptop computers (to be used specifically for database and field work).
  • Camera equipment (please email for specifics).
  • GoPro Cameras and equipment to mount to guns.
  • GPS equipment.
  • Darting Guns (We have two, not a huge need but more enables us to utilize more darters at once to cover more territory and dart more horses!) and darting equipment (coolers for vaccine, mixing syringes, darts, and even the vaccine).
  • Shooting sticks (tripods, monopod, bipod).
  • Composition/spiral notebooks for field work and three ring binders for field notes.
  • Bags to hold equipment above, and organize for easy access to things.
  • Bumper pull camper for two to four people to utilize during field work. Not interested in project or fancy, needs to be clean, functional, and smoke/vape free. Prefer that it has working fridge and stove (propane).
  • Decent 4wd vehicle with towing capacity (some volunteers fly in from other areas and the vehicle will be for their use in field work), again, not interested in a project or fancy, just needs to be clean, functional, and smoke/vape free.
  • Recreational Utility Vehicles with trailer. 4wheelers, side by sides, snowmachines.
  • Solar set ups to run some of the equipment when working or camping in the field.
