Fertility control
With generous sponsorship from the Cloud Foundation, this project involves partnering with the Rawlins District BLM to assist in fertility control in the Stewart Creek HMA. Fertility control projects include darting mares with fertility control vaccines, monitoring herd growth and population, creating and maintaining a database of herd members and tracking bands or family groups to identify genetic affiliations.
Promote Adoption of Wyoming horses

WYWHIP promotes the adoption process of horses who have been removed from the range and are in short term holding by sharing information regarding upcoming adoption events at Wyoming facilities or locations that will have horses gathered from Wyoming ranges, the adoption process with the BLM, purchase or adoption opportunities for sale authority, titled, or TIP horses with other organziations or private individuals.
education, research and advocacy

WYWHIP provides education to the public regarding the life of the American Mustang in their natural habitat specific to Wyoming, and overall in the wild or in captivity. We advocate for many things regarding their health and livelihood, including proper range management, humane handling during and after gathering, better understanding of the situations the American Mustangs face, and responsible management of horses in holding or on range. We are developing comprehensive research program to document the efficacy of diverse fertility control methods and the behavioral impacts of different methods in individual horses as well as herd dynamics to provide the BLM with data to provide better management of the horses.
